Fall 2024 Newsletter

As Everyday Arts enters its 7th school year, we’re eternally grateful to our community for all of your support. Here’s what we’ve been up to lately!

Arts & Culture!

We’re incredibly proud to have received an Organizational Grant Program award from the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture to support our work for the next two years! Thanks to the Board of Supervisors, this program expanded for the first time in 15 years; a total of 238 organizations were selected to receive funding, bringing critical arts programming to LA County. Our grant will help us further our mission of supporting neurodiverse students in achieving their goals through inclusive arts integration. Click here for more information.

2023-2024 Impact!

The 2023-2024 school year was another hugely successful one for Everyday Arts, as we continued to deliver high-quality arts-based professional development for special education teachers, while also launching two ventures!

First, we piloted our “Student Engagement” unit - a professional learning program for teaching artists, arts specialists, and physical education teachers on how to reach a broader student audience with their work. Participants studied the Everyday Arts “Guiding Principals” and then adapted their own lesson plans in order to more effectively serve students with diverse learning needs.

Next, we began a “direct service” offering, where Everyday Arts teaching artists traveled to schools and facilitated visual and performing arts activities for students. We led a multi-week dance residency at Pacoima Middle Schools, as well as a “STEAM Day” at Anton Elementary School, where kids created amazing aluminum foil sculptures to demonstrate the life cycle of plants and the water cycle!

In total, we delivered programming to 8 schools across 4 districts throughout the school year, reaching 63 educators and more than 6,000 students!

2024-2025!

We have many exciting things on the horizon for this school year, including renewed partnerships with Los Angeles Unified School District and South Whittier School District, and new opportunities for you to connect with our larger community through the arts Stay tuned!

Thanks for all of your support!
